How to pick the best guitar teacher for you
Guitar lessons in Colorado Springs are easy to find, but how do you go about finding the right guitar teacher for you or your child? One of the best pieces of information that you can get from a prospective teacher is how he or she teaches the lessons. But it is good information only if you know the answer to this question; what is my goal for guitar lessons? Do you only want to play for fun? Would you like to get good enough to maybe play at an open mic? See, it’s a trick question. If the guitar teacher does not ask you what your goals are then they do not have a way of telling you how they teach their lessons. Without that information, anything that they say may or may not apply to your situation. You won’t have a way of knowing unless you are clear in your own mind what the goal is. The same is true if you are looking for a guitar teacher for your child. If you have visions of your child being a classical guitar prodigy you have to know that.
Cookie cutter guitar lessons are good up to a certain point, but then the lessons have to become geared to the goals of the student or parent. The only way to design a lesson plan that works for you or your child is by gathering all of the information. If the goal for your child is to have a fun summertime activity I would design a very different program that is appropriate for them. If you are after a more intensive musical experience then it would require a different approach to how the guitar lessons will be ultimately shaped. There is much more to learning guitar than someone showing you a few chords and strumming patterns
